August News ...

Corella and Teal the new cottages at Jalbrook are nearing completion and will be ready for occupancy in early October. Built and furnished to the same exacting standard for detail as the existing cottages the only difference being the décor.

The outdoor landscaping is almost completed with hundreds of new trees, bulbs, native shrubs and some very interesting outdoor sculpture added to compliment the existing parkland gardens.

Corella cottage with a king size four poster hand carved wedding bed, large lounging day bed on the deck, and hot tub spa in a pavilion adjoining the cottage overlooks Balingup Brook. Your own gas bbq is on the deck. Decorated with soft hues of creams, taupes, golds and burnt oranges Corella will be the ultimate destination for honeymooners or anyone wanting to rekindle their romance in beautiful surroundings

Teal cottage has been decorated in vibrant reds, blacks, grey and silver tonings and has a great outlook from your king size bed into a lovely garden area. Natural bamboos create a living wall with water features, bird feeders and an interesting garden created with grasses, native plants and sedges to attract the many birds that frequent the property. Wether you are lounging in your steaming hot tub spa or curled up on your large day bed with a glass of local wine the only decision you  will have to make will be “what’s next”?

The walled garden area is being revamped with a new covered outdoor area adjacent to the giant chess set. With soft lighting, a huge teak table and seating for up to 20 people and a wood pizza oven this will be a great gathering place for small groups to meet, mingle and socialise.

With the addition of the new cottages, JALBROOK can now accommodate 16-18 people in beautifully appointed accommodation.

News ...

Molly joined Jan, Alan and Sasha to become part of  the Jalbrook family on Saturday June 5th. She met her new big sister Sasha who is 13 years old and who had lost her best mate Asha in December. Mollie who was 10 weeks old when she joined the family has settled in well.  Sasha was very aloof at first but has now taken this recalcitrant child in tow and has now reiterated her position as “top dog” and Mollie is very happy to fall into line (most of the time). They are adorable together and it is wonderful to see our “old girl” with a new lease of life.

Mollie has met some of the resident alpacas and was very intrigued with these strange looking creatures. She is a firm favourite with our regular guests and has already attended two bonfires and loved the fallen spoils of roasted marshmallows.

The new cottages are almost finished and landscaping has started on both sites with some fabulous stonework from local stonemasons. All the décor has been decided and Jan has been busy shopping for curtains, lounge- suites, spas and everything else that is needed. The new cottages will be ready for spring occupancy.

The Jalbrook Concert planning is underway, and with an exciting line up will be another night of "concert magic" at Jalbrook.

March Jalbrook News ...

We are delighted to see the two new cottages at Jalbrook progressing. Both built of Rammed Earth to match the original cottages on the property and fitted out to the same exacting standards that all of our guests have come to expect. The walls are up and the roof and fit outs have started.

"Corella" cottage with a beautiful outlook over Balingup Brook and the valley, will be set up as the bridal cottage and will have a WOW factor that will delight anyone who is looking for something so very different to start their new life and dreams together.

"Teal" cottage with its strong uplifting colours in purple’s, pinks and silver will also have a WOW factor and set alongside a beautiful spreading paulownia tree it is nestled in like it has always been there.

Sheena and Jan have been really busy with hundreds of tree plantings and new garden beds already in place. The spa units are marked out and the new hot tub spa’s ordered. The Italian coloured glass for the spa units is ordered as is the stained glass for the two new cottages.

Jan and Alan travelled to Indonesia in January to source another supply of stunning outdoor lamps and garden artefacts to be able to keep the quality and standard the same as the slightly eclectic Australian/ Asian influence they started Jalbrook with 12 years ago. A 40ft container arrives in May to be able to put the finishing touches to these cottages.

Another first for Jalbrook is the setting up of some very different art work. Working with a co-op of over 250 artists Jan and Alan were offered the opportunity to present some stunning pieces of art for sale to the general public. This will be an ongoing project from the property. The first art work will arrive in June and is a mixture of Oils and Acrylic on canvas. The quality and variety being offered from this group of very talented men and women is outstanding and very affordable.

The cottages will be ready for occupancy from mid June and bookings are being taken now.

With soft evening lighting, a chiminea and a giant chess set it is the ideal setting for small groups, weddings, or family reunions. A range of catering options is available for your pleasure.

We can organise our masseuse to visit your cottage for a great massage in the privacy of your cottage.

Garden News ...

The walled garden continues to evolve with the water feature now in place. Bird feeders and water bowls have been added to the many others that we have around the property to encourage our huge variety of feathered friends that fly in daily.

We have also planted a large number of grasses and sedges for the birds to play amongst and feed from. The 3 tonne piece of Donnybrook stone is now in situ and awaiting the stone carver to arrive to complete his masterpiece. Overseeing all of this is a giant piece of chain saw art in the form of a weather god totem. Benches have been added for guests to relax and enjoy the ambience and peace.

Test your skill's at the giant outdoor chess set, or just sit around the chimanea with a glass of wine to enjoy your special time out in our piece of paradise.

At the end of August we will see an avenue of Chinese Pistachio trees planted. We have ordered mature large trees to enhance the already beautiful parkland effect that has been achieved to date. Around the natural amphitheatre where the concerts are held we will also be adding another sixty of these stunning Chinese Pistachio trees. Autumn next year promises once again be a blaze of colour with the myriad of deciduous trees now on the property.

Jalbrook News

With the start of cooler weather we are again busy with mating for a beautiful drop of crias (baby alpaca) for early next year.

The gardens continue to evolve and with Sheena our new gardener busy planning and planting along side us we have noticed a big difference in the way the property is taking shape. 200 new daffodil and Iris bulbs have been laid down already with more to come and be planted in April.

Birds, birds and more birds. The way the hundreds of birds flock to the gardens and enjoy the sprinklers and feed left at feeders and birdbaths around the property is a delight to behold. The honeyeaters line up for their daily plunge into the bird bowl and they are like old men in a village lined up, waiting and gossiping.

The weather is slowly moving into Autumn. Russet golds and glorious reds are starting their show on the trees. With water still available for the gardens, the colours against the green backdrop are really spectacular.

The Jalbrook Concert is 11 years old this year and we are talking to some exciting artists. Held on the last Saturday of each November this outdoor concert is a night of concert magic under the stars. With a range of great accommodation both locally and in surrounding towns along with camping and caravanning options it is a night not to be missed.
