Felting Workshops
Felting is an ancient form of wool processing, the earliest examples dating to Neolithic times. The process has been around for maybe as long as 30,000 years.
Felting is the process by which wool fibre is matted into a fabric. The longer the felt is fulled, the finer it will be. Felt has no warp or selvedge and will not fray. There are many different styles of felting, but there is only one way to do it.
- Wool Water, Pressure, Friction and Heat.
Felting workshops working with Alpaca fleeces are regularly held at Jalbrook Cottages Alpacas and Knitwear Gallery in Balingup.
The workshops are held over two days and include accommodation, with all meals provided.

A fully accredited teacher hosts these delightful weekend getaways where you will learn all about the unique qualities of working with this soft sensuous and silky fleece.
The ancient Incas described the wool from alpacas as “fibre of the gods” and when you see and handle this lustrous fibre you will delight in creating your very own ‘piece of ‘paca’ to take home.

Accommodation is on a share basis of four people per cottage for groups, or single supplement, and includes all meals, materials and tuition for the weekend.
Please note that numbers are limited to 10 people. The cost is $350 per person sharing and $380 single supplement.
