Autumn
Treetops ablaze in amber and gold, the rustle and crunch of leaves underfoot, soft winds in bare branches and fields tinged with green growth. The perfect time to enjoy alfresco dining, cool climate wines and some of the wonderful fresh produce that is produced in abundance in the Blackwood River Valley region.
Winter
Winter mists, lichen on bark, crackling log fires, tumbling streams brooks and rivers. Good food with mulled wines and many chances to sample cheeses and other products at local markets.
Spring
Pockets of swirling mists, trees bursting with bud, wildflowers and golden wattles in a riot of colour. Chattering parrots, warbling magpies, and an abundance of bird life. Fabulous bushwalks.
Summer
Cooler climates with soft breezes, soothing sparkling streams, golden dry paddocks, fabulous fresh fruits, with picnics in dappled shade under weeping trees.

FOOD, WINE, OLIVES & OILS
Hillsides and valleys of the region are dotted with vineyards, orchards, olive groves and market gardens. With diverse climate changes the range of grapes has enabled the region to produce some great wines. Many of the boutique vineyards handpick and produce premium wines at low prices. Olive’s groves are producing great oils with many of the grower’s value adding to their product. Stone fruit and apples are famous in this region and cherries in season bring in tour companies to purchase the succulent fruit.
ARTS
Balingup has attracted a stream of very talented artists who have settled in this picturesque town and many have work shown in some of the many galleries in the town and surrounding region.
GARDENS
Four distinct seasons each offering something different with a profusion of bulbs and buds in spring with abundant birdlife, amazing colours of reds, gold’s and everything in between in autumn. Bare branches and romantic mists in winter and summers sunburnt ‘scapes. Whatever the season you will enjoy a kaleidoscope of changing colours that will continue to enchant you.
WALKING TRAILS
The world famous Bibbulmun Track meanders through Balingup. Stretching 976 kms from Mundaring to Albany the sector through Golden Valley Tree Park is one of the prettiest day walks in the region. An arboretum park with trees from around the world Golden Valley is an ideal picnic spot.
SCENIC DRIVES
With winding country roads, beautiful scenery and great attractions the Blackwood River Valley Region is perfect for exploring by car.
A great day trip from Balingup is the triangle heading south to Bridgetown and exploring some of the great wineries and galleries in this rural town. Head over to Nannup and visit some of the gardens and little shops to stock up on local produce. Wend your way home along the Balingup Nannup Road and pick up some great cheeses, plum wines. Wander the main street of Balingup to shop at some of the quirky little shops that are dotted through the town
